A Glimps Of Us At The IMAX Gala

Here are some great pictures of us at the Grand Opening Gala for the IMAX theater. We were lucky to have our good friend Mike Miville of Miville Photography join us all evening to capture great pictures of us working at the gala.

Yummy...pumpkin spice with chocolate chips!

We would like to give a special thank you to Mike Miville of Miville Photograhy for spending the time and taking such amazing pictures of us and our cakes!

Emily & Steve~October 10, 2010

Emily has worked with Megan at ClipperMagazine for many years. We where so happy to be asked to create her and Stave's wedding cake.
Invitation Design

Sample of Center Piece
We did not create a formal sketch for this cake. Emily & Steve meet with us for their tasting and design consultation. During the meeting we decided to use their invitations and center pieces as the inspiration.

We decided to make the cattails 3D and keep the rest of the design flat and graphic.

The cattails are chocolate cake that has been pressed into the shape of a cattail and dipped into milk chocolate. To give the cattail the right texture they were rolled in a fine grain sugar. The leaves of the cattails are made from gum-paste.

The cake topper is two love birds with their necks wrapped around each other. The topper is 100% edible. It is made of rice cereal treat and modeling chocolate.

We had made some extra cattails just in-case some broke. After putting the cake together we knew we would not be needing the extras for the cake. We decided that it would compliment the look of the cake to make two bouquets of the cattails to place on the table with the cake. They were the finishing touch to the table.

The cake was the grooms favorite, chocolate cake with peanut butter filling.

It was a great pleasure to create such an original and one of a kind wedding cake for two very special people. Emily and Steve we wish you the best of luck in you marriage. All of the pictures were taken by Jason, a friend of the bride.

IMAX Public Grand Opening

November 19, 2010 was the Grand Opening of the IMAX for the public. We were asked to create a cake for everyone to enjoy that night. Mike from Miville Photography joined us again that evening to capture these great pictures of our creation. The style of this cake was the same as the gala cake. With this cake we focused on the Harry Potter film as that was the opening weekend for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1. The public cake was a chocolate cake with butter cream filling and covered in fondant. This screen for this cake was done a little different then the gala cake. This screen was a sheet of rice/wafer paper that was airbrushed to give an spooky night sky look. The paper was then lit from behind to give a glowing look behind the dragon & castle. The castle and dragon were made of modeling chocolate. We tried to use key elements that represented all of the Harry Potter films. Hagrid was re-made to make another appearance on the public cake. He was made of rice cereal treat and modeling chocolate and his lantern was lit with a single LED light. The Hogwarts Express was made of rice cereal treat and modeling chocolate as well. Hagrid's Hut also made it onto the cake. It was made of rice cereal treat and modeling chocolate. The Weasley's car was made of chocolate cake covered in fondant & modeling chocolate. The Sorting Hat also made an appearance on the cake sitting atop the screen. The hat was made of just modeling chocolate. The back of the cake was again similar to the gala cake but the film canisters are for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 & 2.
