IMAX Grand Opening Gala

We are excited to launch our blog and what better way to do it then with the first of two amazing cakes. We are honored to have been chosen to create the grand opening cakes for the new IMAX theater here in Lititz, PA.

The first cake that we created was for the Grand Opening Gala on Wednesday, November 17, 2010. This cake was to represent some of the great movies that have made IMAX what it is today, and a sneak peek at what is coming. We chose to use these films: Harry Potter, Transformers, The Green Hornet, Spiderman and Tron.

You can't tell but the headlights of the Green Hornet's car, Hagrid's lantern, the wheels of the Tron bike and Optimus Prime all light up. The Green Hornet's car is made of cake and the other figures are made of rice cereal treat and modeling chocolate.

This cake is pumpkin spice with chocolate chips, iced and then covered with fondant. This cake is the first of two for Lancaster county's new IMAX theater.

Wednesday November 17 the who's who of Lancaster County arrived one by one to support and admire the newest attraction of Lancaster County. The evening was filled with flash after flash from the area's finest photographers. Miville Photagraphy, Beth Cardwell Photography, Fine Living Lancaster, and the Lititz Record all made their way through the crowd capturing one amazing shot after another. Plum Street Gourmet gracefully delivered hors d'oeuvres, and catered the event. The IMAX cake was cut by the four men responsible for Penn Cinema and the new IMAX; Jonathan Byler, John Byler, Bob Tucci, and Penn Ketchum.

We would like to thank our friends and family for helping us make it through one of the longest and hardest weeks ever. With their support we were able to create these amazing cakes. Without them none of what we do would be possible!

We will be posting more pictures of this cake and the Grand Opening for the public cake later this week so stay tuned...
